We love a smoothie in the morning, it really helps us start the day off well. Kefir smoothies have become a favourite breakfast item in our family and there are so many delicious variations to be made. This berry smoothie is one of our favourite smoothies made with kefir. We love making kefir and there are so many health benefits. I would encourage you to do your own research on this to find out how beneficial it can be.
You can mix and match the ingredients in the recipe below. We love to use 100% maple syrup sometimes instead of honey and avocado instead of the coconut oil. We also swap the nuts and seeds around and use pumpkin seeds, sunflower and a variety of nuts. The superfood powders can also be swapped around depending on what you are into at the moment. I’ve added a link in to Indigo herbs they are a great place to look for smoothie add ins. We also love to swap the berries around and use frozen strawberries, cherries or other frozen berries from our summer garden harvest.
Kefir Berry Smoothie
1 cup of kefir
1 cup of water
2 tsp of raw honey
2 tsp of coconut oil
2 tsp of flaxseeds
1 cup of berries, frozen or fresh
Acai Berry powder (optional)
Pop everything in a high powered blender and blend through until smooth.
Add in a little extra water to thin it out if nessecary.
Serve immediately and enjoy!
