Pecan Caramel Nut Milk

I love making all sorts of nut milk as its a delicious alternative to use in cereals or other recipes. I like to try new things and loved making this pecan nut milk.. It’s delicious with the addition of raw honey and has a lovely caramel flavour. You could make it sweeter with some dates in the blender too.

Beetroot Juice

I made a really simple organic beetroot juice this morning!  It was divine!  This was a great choice for me to drink before my Step Aerobics, I felt so strong and energetic after this powerful antioxidant packed juice!

(I did share this massive glass with the kids)  😉

Ingredients:

4 Beetroots

1 whole pack of celery

2 lemons

2 large pieces of tumeric root

4 carrots

4 apples

beetrootjuice

Chop all the pieces and put through the juicer, it sometimes helps to add the softer items with the hard.  Drink immediately or store in a tightly sealed jar.  Check out some of the awesome ingredients below.

Tumeric is a powerful ingredient and is thought to be a great anti inflammatory.  You can purchase it in powder format but if your juicing it I would recommend getting the fresh root.  I’ve included some links for the powder and the root format, you can use both in smoothies but I would personally recommend the fresh for juicing.  You can also juice with a little pineapple to create an awesome tumeric shot! 😀

Tumeric Roots

FRESH TURMERIC ROOTS 250g

Tumeric Powder

Sevenhills Wholefoods Organic Raw Turmeric Powder 500g

Beetroot is also thought to help the body in a variety of ways during exercise.  I have included a link to a good blog post I have read for some further research you may wish to read.  https://www.endurancesportsnutritionist.co.uk/blog/using-beetroot-juice-to-boost-endurance-sports-performance/

Matcha & Chai Seed Power Milk

Matcha power morning milk drink!

If you want something powerful to replace the morning coffee this it! 😊

Click on the image for more details of the matcha I have used, there are many brands.Check out the matcha stats below…an amazing nutritious drink to have first thing…
FINEST ORGANIC MATCHA GREEN TEA | Japanese matcha tea | Finest vibrant green powder | Super Premium Ceremonial Grade | Organic | Natural & Vegan | Tea Masters choice.

I started on 1/2 a tsp as I have not used it in a while and will work myself up to 1 heaped teaspoon, I would recommend starting small, maybe even 1/4 tsp as you don’t want to overdose on the detoxifying qualities of certain super foods.

So I blended 1/2tsp of matcha powder into a blender of almond milk and two tbsp of chia seeds…you can also just blend the matcha with the milk and skip the seeds but I needed a little extra energy in my morning drink and I was out of everything else.   You could also add a couple of extra dates for sweetness if you don’t like the strong green tea taste!

I swear I always feel a boost in my energy after a matcha drink, there’s something amazing about this super food and I hope to post a few more matcha recipes in the future.  Be careful to purchase a high quality blend though, you really do get what you pay for when it comes to match, Ive done a little research and the best one I have used was a ‘Tea pigs’ one and you can check it out by clicking the tea pigs image below for that but the one I have in the picture is by kineta, it’s the first time I’ve used this particular brand but I’ve felt the energy results from taking it.

Green Juice ingredients

A quick pic of all the ingredients I used for some green juice, there’s a whole bag of curly green kale, one whole cucumber, four whole apples, and not pictured were two packs of cranberries and a whole lemon.

Chop everything up and pop in the juicer and it makes five small glasses or a few large ones.

I use a juicer similar to the one in the picture, a cold press juicer so no nutrition is destroyed in the making.  Click the link to view this one and others similar.

First youtube video

image

Ok so I did my first ever you tube video today, I seriously had loads of fun creating it…its not very interesting, I was really just trying all of my equipment out which is pretty pants!

I need a new camera, microphone, new mac to cope with some new video editing software and some video ideas.  It was great fun though and I laughed so much making it and editing it…the video quality is pretty pants but I will work on that for the next time, also my nail polish is super awful but I’ll get that sorted for next time!

Ok be kind people!  lots of love xxx

Fresh green apple juice

image

I was lucky enough to get two massive bags of green apples from a family member this year and before I made jam and pies I wanted to make some delicious fresh apple juice.

I chopped and put through about eight apples into the juicer.  You could use more or less but I had two adults and three young kids to feed.  I also added some ginger and lemon for a boost against some coughs and colds in the house just now and four sticks of cavolo Nero kale torn fresh out of the garden plot.

A delicious boost of seasonal nourishment before school and so easy to make.

Lemon Vit C Boost

“The juice of a fresh-squeezed lemon in water has many medicinal values, as well as its benefits for cleansing the body, stimulating the liver, and improving digestion and elimination” http://www.waterbenefitshealth.com

Drinking lemon water is a great way to start the day!  Its a great source of Vitamin C for your body and lemons are also known for their detoxing and alkalising health benefits.  Below are some links to some articles I found online about the benefits of lemon water.

I personally try to drink this 3-5 times a week, but I have a very busy kitchen in the morning with kids running around looking for food and we have smoothies and juices being made left, right and centre so I drink it when I can.  It really doesn’t take a lot of time to prepare and you can have it with hot water or with cold.  If its the colder months I prefer to have warm water.  After a glass of water or the lemon water above a smoothie is the next important breakfast step for us.  The kids usually have a  glass of water, or lemon water, a smoothie and some homemade bread or muffins.  Then additional fruit if we can squeeze it in.  We’re not perfect by any means but we try to get those super foods into them as much as possible.

Click on the link below for the smoothie glasses that I use for my vitamin waters, smoothies and frozen puddings.  They are fab and can also be recycled once the use is finished which is important for me.  The kids love the ones with the straws.

Cavolo nero & apple juice

image

Feeling the love from the garden today in this green juice, freshly picked cavolo Nero (dark kale) from the garden juiced with apples for a sweet treat!

  • four stalks of cavolo nero
  • two or three small apples

Chop the lot, including the leaves into pieces small enough for the juicer, juice, pour and drink in the sunshine if your lucky enough!  😊

Nothing is wasted in our kitchen, all the juicer pulp goes straight to our rescue hens…they love it and what a treat for them!
